Distributing in the West African region

This week, AGWD Industries looked at distributing Trail Blazer products to the West African region. SBANDT, Inc. looks at selling Trail Blazer products in Clearwater Florida. Le Baron Outdoor Products looks at selling Trail Blazer products in Quebec and Ontario. I learn about “Little Buck” & it’s connections to Trail Blazer’s collapsible saws.

Theodore Ghunney with AGWD Industries contacted me to learn more about distributing Trail Blazer’s Telescopic 5-Pulley Tree Pruners to the West African region. Our discussions are in the early stages & I know little about AGWD. I would be very excited to supply the West African region, which includes 16 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone & Togo) covering an area of approximately 5 million square kilometers.

I was very pleased when I received a nice e-mail from Lisa Pietrafesa with SBANDT, Inc. in Clearwater Florida USA this week. Lisa contacted me to describe how she remembered when Trail Blazer Products Limited was just a young company …

Lisa Pietrafesa was living in New York at the time and Sleeping Bags and Tents had just started up, when she was looking online for distributors and came across Trail Blazer products by chance. She thought Trail Blazer’s Nova Scotia made products were very well designed and knew then, that she wanted to offer Trail Blazer’s outdoor products to her customers. It has been a few years and Lisa is now the owner of Sleeping Bags and Tents and operates the website sleepingbagsandtents.com. Lisa has worked very hard to get Sleeping Bags and Tents going again and feels the Internet is a lot more competitive than it has been in the past.

Despite the growing popularity of the Internet and increased competition, Lisa is very happy that she is able to say that after 3 years the Sleeping Bags and Tents is still going. Great job Lisa, as a business owner myself I share your feeling and wish you all the best.

Lisa Pietrafesa has determined that it is now the right time for Sleeping Bags and Tents to expand their catalog and to include things other than the traditional sleeping bags and tents they presently offer now. Lisa would love to be able to offer Trail Blazer products again. This time, she would like to sell Trail Blazer’s Nova Scotia made products at the Flea Market in Clearwater Florida USA. The same way that Ala-Tube Manufacturing started in the early 90′s, by selling the original Trail Blazer Saw in various flea markets throughout Atlantic Canada, less than 20 years ago. Lisa thinks they would do very well in Florida … I agree & look forward to working with her again.

SBANDT, Inc is a reseller of quality name brand sleeping bags and tents. Their website Sleeping Bags and Tents strives to carry the biggest selection of outdoor gear available. They carry brands like The Backside, Black Pine Sports, Grizzly, Eureka, Slumberjack and many more. Customer service is their first priority.

Steven Baron with Le Baron Outdoor Products in Montreal Quebec, Ottawa, Markham and Mississauga Ontario contacted me about adding Trail Blazer’s top four selling outdoor products to their stores and catalogue. I recommended Trail Blazer’s Take-Down™ Buck Saw, Sawvivor™ Saw, Xtreme™ Folding Saw and Xtreme™ Hatchet. Their mail order is shipping worldwide! Their mail-order does not ship to addresses on the Island of Montreal, Mississauga, Markham or Ottawa. You are welcome to visit their stores and receive personal assistance. Their knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you find the right products, like Trail Blazer, for your outdoor needs.

Back at the office, Trail Blazer was joined by Kenton McNutt, a Master in Business student from Dalhousie University. Kenton will be working with me and my team for the next 8 months to expand his education and makes a great addition to the trail Blazer team.

The 2013 spring production of Trail Blazer’s Take-Down™ Buck Saws is ready to begin next week now that the blade punch is back in operation. Trail Blazer’s Sawvivor™ Saws are scheduled to begin in March, as we wait for equipment repairs to be completed. The 2013 spring production of Trail Blazer’s Telescopic Loppers and Shears are scheduled to begin next month as we wait for the delivery of the pin locking buttons & rubber grips, being produced in New Brunswick for the very first time. Trail Blazer’s Reverse D-Handle Snow Shovels are complete and the remaining shovels will be shipped on a first come first serve bases … while supplies last.

Rob Kelly (you may know him as the trail name of QiWiz, aka Qi Wiz) in Ohio USA contacted me to order 5 dozen of our 15″ replacement blades for Trail Blazer’s Sawvivor™ Saw. Rob hasn’t placed an order for Trail Blazer’s collapsible saws in awhile.

I’ll honor Rob Kelly’s, aka Qi Wiz order, but we know the blades are for the “Little Buck”. Rob decided, after he used our Sawvivor™ Saws, to create Little Buck which he says is half the weight of any other 15 inch saw available, including bow saws, pruning saws, Sawvivor saws, and Sven saws.I will ask Rob to send me a “Little Buck” so I can test the stability of the product … but I can tell you the blade is most definitely the best you can get on the market.

The “Little Buck” uses three aluminum tubes for a frame (sound familiar?) & breaks down into a 2 inch bundle. Almost … Trail Blazer’s Take-Down™ Buck Saw breaks down into its own 1.5 inch handle. The Little Buck sells for $58 … our collapsible saws sell for $32.

All the Best, Shawn Levangie
