Collapsible SAWVIVOR
SAW survives the cut to take Innovative New Product Award - Seasonal
Category
TORONTO: February 14, 2001... Just when you thought
you couldn't improve something as basic to the outdoors as a hack
saw, a company from Nova Scotia proves there is indeed a better
mousetrap. The winner of the best new product award in the Seasonal
category at the Canadian Hardware and Building Materials Show was
the Sawvivor Saw from Trail Blazer Products of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
This innovative product earned the recognition over 500 other entries
at the Canada's national hard lines trade show's Showcase of Innovation.
Contestants on television's Survivor series might
wish they had one of these handy items for clearing trees away from
their temporary shelters. Designed for campers, backpackers and
homeowners, the strong Sawvivor Saw is collapsible and ready to
take to any immunity challenge. This lightweight saw features a
strong anodized aluminum frame, stainless steel parts throughout,
a cushioned foam grip and storage space in the handle for extra
blades. Judges were enamored with its portability and safety features.
When not in use, the blade is safely stored inside the handle.
Industrial design advisers Ken Cummings of
Humber College School of Industrial Design and Stephen Guerin of
The Design Exchange evaluated CHS' new product entries on originality,
design, functionality and sales potential. Industry experts Robert
Koci, Editor, Canadian Contractor magazine; Gail Ravenda, General
Manager, Hicks Lumber; and David Nisbet, President, Mutual Hardware
were also on the judging panel. Each year the Canadian Hardware
and Building Materials Show recognizes the best new products in
hardware, home improvement, home trends & decor, seasonal and best
of show categories from exhibitor products submitted at its Showcase
of Innovation.
